Safeguarding

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

Safeguarding means:

  • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
  • preventing harm to children’s health or development
  • ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.

As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Safeguarding procedures are vigorous and children’s well-being is paramount. The safety and well-being of all pupils is ensured through clear policies, strategies and procedures being in place.

We ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment.  All successful candidates are subject to Disclosure Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Annual safeguarding training, including Prevent, takes place for all staff to ensure they know how to identify when a child may be at risk and know how and to whom they should report their concerns.

In school we have three staff who take a lead in Safeguarding.

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Nicola Potter  Head Teacher
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Anna Birkett  Deputy Head

One of the Safeguarding Leads is always available during school hours to speak to anyone who has concerns about the welfare of a child. You can speak to them in person or call school on 01256 461795 and ask to speak to the DSL.

Out of school hours or during holidays, you can report concerns by emailing our Safeguarding team using the following email kisinfo@kempshott-inf.hants.sch.uk

This email is monitored by the above staff and they will respond to any concerns as soon as possible.
